PADI Scuba Diver Course

This course with Red Sea Life PADI 5 Stars Dive Center Hurghada is your ideal first step into the fascinating underwater world.

Maybe you wish to become a recreational diver but, for a start, you need to feel comfortable with diving under the guidance of an instructor or a guide. This course, which precedes the PADI Open Water Course, will prepare you.

Duration

Included in this course you will have pool training and 2 dives in the sea (open water dives), you will organize with your Red Sea Life instructor the schedule that fits your holiday with a minimum duration of around 2 days.

Have you always wanted to learn how to scuba dive?

  • When you finish your PADI Scuba Diver course you will be able to enter the world underwater in the company of a guiding instructor. You will be eligible to go to a maximum depth of 12 meters, equalling 40 feet. It will also open the door to continue your dive training for a PADI Open Water Diver certification and to go ahead to enjoy certain specialty diver courses. Successfully completing the PADI Scuba Diver Course with Red Sea Life PADI 5 Stars Dive School also allows you to obtain water fills, rent or purchase
    scuba diving equipment. You may also take part in diving activities, provided the proper supervision by certified instructors or guides.

  • What will I learn?

    You’ll learn that you really can breathe underwater and you will:

    • Learn what wearing scuba equipment feels like and the ease at which you can move with it on underwater. 
    • Find out what it’s like to breathe & equalise underwater. 
    • Some basic hand signals.
    • Complete some basic skills and safety rules and it will be credited towards your Open Water course.

Frequently asked questions

I've lost my logbook; can I still dive with you?

Yes, providing you prove you’re a diver. We may require you to do a check dive or scuba review before your arrival or on your first day depending on your level, how many dives you think you have and when your last dive was.

I've lost my certification card; can I still dive with you?

If you are a PADI or SSI diver, we may be able to check their computer database online, but please make every effort to get a replacement before you travel.

What is the maximum depth I can dive to?

Our guides will guide to 30m on recreational dives or to the limit of your diving qualification. If you have a deep spec to say 40m, you have a buddy of equal level and can show your insurance allows you to dive to this depth, then CDWS allows diving to 40m. Technical diving has different rules. Please email info@redseadiverss.com for more details.

Your maximum diving depth will be dependent on your level of training and experience. It is your responsibility to check what depths your insurance policy covers you for before your arrival.

Do I have to be a good swimmer to scuba dive?

Some swimming ability is required. You need to have basic swim skills and be able to comfortably maintain yourself in the water. Float and tread water for 10 minutes, again using any methods you want.

What is the best time of year to dive?

The Red Sea offers all year-round sunshine with little or no rainfall.

From the 2nd week of November to the end of March temperatures are cooler and there can be strong winds; however, guests have commented that they prefer this time of year as the boats and the dive sites are quiet.

April to June, look out for manta and the occasional whale shark; summer has lots of shoaling fish, barracuda, trevallies, snapper, batfish. Water temperatures are lovely; however the air temperature can be very hot.

September through to the first two weeks of November the air temperature is beautiful and the waters are warm from the summer heat. Marine sightings will vary depending on which dive resort you are staying at.

If I have been diving, how long should I wait before flying?

PADI recommend 12 hours before flying after 1 dive, 18 hours if you have done multiple dives over multiple days. Here at Emperor Divers, we require you to have 24 hours clear before flying.
